How To Have Healthy Skin While You’re Stuck At Home

Stuck at home and missing your facialist? Quarantine is giving Mother Earth, and our skin a well-deserved break. You may not be able to go on vacation right now, but your skin can.

Here are 5 tips to keep your skin pampered to come out of quarantine looking radiant:

  1. Gotta Hydrate, Babe.
Your skin may not have seen the sun in days, but spending time indoors with the AC on blast can be just as bad for your skin.
We all know by now that we should be applying hand lotion after we’ve washed our hands, so our skin doesn’t dry out like sandpaper. To keep your face happy, incorporate products containing hyaluronic acid, as it’s known to promote moisture. We recommend Make p:rem’s Hydrate Me moisturizer, and Mizon’s hyaluronic acid serum. Another way to combat dryness is to invest in a humidifier for your home. Along with preventing dry skin, a humidifier can also stop the spread of airborne viruses.
  2. Stay Active
Staying indoors doesn’t mean we should become one with our couch. Be sure to fit in 20 minutes of exercise a day to burn off Cortisone, a steroid hormone that is released by the adrenal gland in response to stress. Stress manifests on our face with clogged pores and breakouts. Keeping your blood circulating is the healthiest way to get that skin glow.
Just remember to shower immediately after working out. Hanging out in your dried sweat is the fastest way to clog your skin.
  3. Stay Out Of The Sun
This is a freebie. Thanks to social distancing, keeping our face out of the sun during its peak hours of 10 AM — 4 PM has never been easier to follow.
  4. Build Your Immunity
There’s never been a more critical time to build our immune systems, and luckily, it does wonders for our skin! Healthy diets help us look and feel our best. Start your day off with celery juice, minimize your sugar intake, download an app to remind yourself to keep drinking water, eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Without late-night food deliveries, this is a great time to experiment with healthy eating habits.
  5. Chill Out
The best way to make your skin happy is to manage your stress. If you’re spending a lot of time over-thinking, watching the news—your skin will revolt. Get enough sleep, set limits, and make time—and you have nothing but time these days—to do things on your to-do list that you’ll actually enjoy.
